If Not Now, When? If Not Me, Who?

If Not Now, When? If Not Me, Who?

If Not Now, When? If Not Me, Who?
A Midlife Wake-Up Call That Changed Everything.

A few years ago, I heard Jamie Lee Curtis say something that planted itself deep in my soul and never left. She said:

“If not now, when? If not me, who?”

It landed right in my gut—the kind of truth you don’t just hear, you feel. Not in the pushy, hustle-harder kind of way. But in that whispering truth you can’t unhear kind of way. Because if we’re honest, how many times have we told ourselves, “Later”?

“When things calm down…”
“When the kids need me less…”
“When I get through this busy season…”
“When I finally feel ready…”

But midlife has this way of cracking things wide open. Of making us feel everything more intensely – our aches, our desires, our questions about who we are and what comes next. The changes in our bodies are just part of it. The real shift is happening beneath the surface. For many women, there’s this subtle – but powerful – ache for more.

More clarity. More energy. More alignment. More you.

And here’s the thing: the changes we often dread in this phase – our shifting hormones, the emotional waves, the fatigue, the restlessness, the excess weight gain – they’re not just problems to fix. They’re signals. Sacred nudges. Invitations to pause, pay attention, and maybe… pivot. What if this season wasn’t the end of something? What if it’s the beginning of you finally coming home to yourself?

That’s what Jamie’s words stirred in me,If not now…when?

Not “when everything’s perfect.” Not “when I’ve got it all figured out.” Not “when I feel more confident or look more like I used to.” But now! Messy, beautiful, in-progress now. Because there will always be something else competing for your energy. There will always be reasons to delay. But this moment – this chapter – is unlike any other. It’s ripe with wisdom. It’s tender with possibility – and it’s yours!

And then comes the second part of the quote,If not me…who?

We’re so used to showing up for others. Taking care of what needs to get done. Holding it all together. And yet, somewhere along the way, we forget that we are the author of our story – not just a character in someone else’s.

So, my question to you is – If not you – who will speak your truth? Who will honor your body? Who will carve out space for what nourishes you – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually? No one else is coming to hand you the permission slip. You are the permission.

And here’s the deeper truth: when you say yes to yourself, you ripple that out to everyone around you. You model what it looks like to rise with flow and compassion. You show the next generation that midlife isn’t about fading – it’s about unfolding. You step into your own power – not from having all the answers, but from finally listening to what feels true for you.

And yes, it might feel unfamiliar or a little unsteady at first – but that just means it matters.

Reconnecting with parts of you that have been quiet for years – can feel overwhelming. Especially when your body is changing and the world isn’t exactly shouting, “You’ve got this!”, But maybe this isn’t about reinventing yourself. Maybe it’s about remembering who you are. Returning to your intuition. Reclaiming your voice. Relearning how to listen to your body with compassion, not criticism.

This kind of work isn’t flashy. It’s not about overnight fixes or surface-level solutions. It’s slow. Intentional. Restorative. It begins quietly – with a moment of pause, a breath of truth, a whisper of yes. That’s where real change starts – not with doing more, but with choosing differently – choosing what empowers you instead of what depletes you.

So, if something inside you is stirring – if your soul is gently nudging you, whispering “Hey, I’m still here” – maybe this is your moment. Not because everything is perfectly in place. Not because you feel totally ready. But because you’re ready enough. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to go big. You just need to take one small, kind step toward yourself. You don’t owe the world your burnout. You don’t have to stay small – you were made to expand.

And when the voice of doubt creeps in – because it will – come back to this:

If not now, when? If not me, who?

Let that be your compass when things feel unclear. Let it anchor you when you forget how powerful you really are. Because the truth is…You were never meant to fade. You were meant to rise. And maybe, just maybe, this is the chapter where you finally do.

If this resonated with you, take a pause and ask yourself: What’s one small way I can choose myself today? And if you’re not sure where to begin, reach out – I’d be happy to walk beside you and help you find your next step.
